• Passports issued by the Japanese government are accepted. Passports issued overseas cannot be used.

• Photo Identification cannot be used.
• If you wish to have your identity verified by receiving a postcard (Only Japanese articles), you can verify your identity with the new passport by submitting the following three images.

1. New passport (face photo page)
2. ID selfie with the new passport (face photo page)
3. Two types of supplementary documents(Only Japanese articles) that can confirm your current address

If you are a foreign national, please submit either a Residence Card or a Special Permanent Resident Certificate that shows your current address as your primary identity verification document.

• You must register using your legal name as stated on the submitted document.
• Nicknames or aliases cannot be used for registration.

• These documents are valid up to two months before their expiration date.
• If there are fewer than two months remaining, please apply after renewal or reissuance.

Example (Not Accepted)

• Document submission date: February 1, 2025
• Expiration date: March 31, 2025

• These documents are valid until their expiry date.

If your current address is not listed on your identity verification documents or if there is a discrepancy, you will need to submit supplementary documents that include your current address.Please check here for more details.(Only Japanese articles)

• Address after moving is not listed.
• There is no place name, room number, etc.
• The name of the place was changed due to land readjustment.

• Please make sure that the identity verification documents to be submitted are within the expiration date.
• Please make sure that your current address is shown on your identification documents. Please check here if any of the following cases apply to you.(Only Japanese articles)
  • Your current address is not listed on your identity verification documents.
  • There is a discrepancy between the current address and the information on the identity verification document.
• There is no place name, room number, etc.
• Address after moving is not listed.

* Please note that the residence card or special permanent resident certificate must include your current address.

• When taking a photo of your identity verification document, please take it in a bright place.
• Please make sure that the content of the identity verification document can be seen when shooting.
• Please make sure that your face and the entire identity verification document are captured.

• If an image that is not necessary for identity verification is submitted, it may be deleted.
• You cannot upload images with "Photo Identification".
• You can upload "png" and "jpg" format files up to a total of 50MB for "identity verification by postcard".
• PDFs, scans, cropped images, black and white images or captured (screenshot) images will not be accepted.
